Tim Blair reminds us of the PBS forum where Peter Jennings ultimately agreed with Mike Wallace that given the option of warning American troops or reporting on the enemy’s attack on those troops, the higher calling for reporters was to report and not try to save their countrymen’s lives. Now it’s actually happened. A NYT (of course) photographer watched the enemy shoot at our troops. Evidently not his enemy, since he’s produced a book about their brave struggle. It hardly rises to a Duranty-level offense but it’s more evidence, if anyone needed it, of the Times’ position in this war, and the NYT is very representative of the rest of the MSM.

stripes.jpgDo we finally have an explanation for the way Dan Rather used to end his broadcasts? It takes courage to betray the best troops in the world, especially when they defend your free speech - in the case of reporters, their livelihoods and when they are embedded, their very lives.

I’m reminded of a classic moment in the movie Stripes. Sergeant Hulka advises Francis to lighten up, and then goes on to say, “One of these men might save your life one day.” John Winger (Bill Murray) comments, “Then again… maybe one of us won’t.”

Would you go out of your way for these people if you were a soldier?

Madonna at Atlantic City

Well, here are my observations:
1) It was too loud for me.
2) No one was killed for watching Madonna perform.
