Oh, I’ve been pretty hard on him – and intend to continue to be, and on my worst day I still won’t even be in the same rhetorical universe as those wackos at HuffPo – but credit where it will hopefully be due: his Homeland Security Secretary claims she’ll Deport the Criminals First. That’s progress. I hope she’ll do it. It would be a nice change.
Stop The ACLU notes that with President Obama, it’s Do As I Say, Not As I Do, On The Climate Crisis.
As Glenn Reynolds is fond of saying, I’ll believe it’s a crisis when the people who claim it’s a crisis start acting like it’s a crisis.
I greeted my husband with this statement yesterday: “Donna called to tell us about [an event we normally would have attended]. I don’t want to go – to the point that I almost didn’t tell you about it – but if we don’t go I’ll feel guilty. I can’t decide; you have to decide. But you might as well know it’s a no-win situation because if we do have to go I’ll be mad and if we don’t I’ll feel guilty and out of sorts about it.”
At which point his expression said pretty clearly, “Ah, the joys of marriage.” Or maybe it was, “I wonder how much a retainer for an attorney would be.”
I guess he figured if he was going to lose anyway, he might as well do so in comfort. So we stayed home and ended up having a pretty nice evening.
