Ken Pritchett is another 40 percenter who is Supporting the “Going Galt” Movement… by scaling back his business – at the cost of not creating several jobs. It’s not just a matter of a 39.6% tax rate (which the left correctly points out has been much higher in the past, including under the right’s beloved Reagan), which is still not going to be enough.
What Benen fails to realize is that the proposed top rate of 39.6% is just the tip of the…ummm…spear. We know that it will not be enough to cover the Obama Administration’s expenses. … 39.6% does not include state and local income taxes. It does not include sales tax or payroll tax or the tax on my cigarettes or any of the other hundreds of taxes lurking behind every good or service.
The total amount taken from us by the government is prohibitive. I have a real problem with the fact that Tax Freedom Day is in APRIL. For people unsympathetic to the Going Galt movement, are you honestly content to work a minimum of third of your time for the government? Do you really want to increase that amount?
