An end around the Posse Comitatus Act.
To qualify, I’m sure he wasn’t asked, and you can bet my 1st comment wasn’t his answer, even though it’s a possible answer.
The thing is, I’d blow it off, but in addition to this, he also promises to expand both Americorps and the Peace Corps. So what’s the mission for this new group, if not what Americorps and the Peace Corps and when called on, the National Guard, are already doing? Why have “Security Force” and not “Service” in the name?
I have tried not to drink the KoolAid in my dislike for Obama. I’ve smacked other people around for buying into the Antichrist and not-a-citizen nonsense, and I honestly don’t think this guy is the devil, metaphorically speaking. I think he’s just a corrupt Chicago pol who’s very ambitious and good at gaming the system. But this “Security Force” is very disquieting to me.
Added: by the way, I like the gravatar!

I agree to some extent. I don’t buy in to the non-American bunk, nor the Antichrist (Really? Hadn’t heard that nutty story.) stuff. But the guy is definitely a socialist, which makes him more than just a corrupt Chicago pol, IMHO. There isn’t any doubt about that in my mind. I also think the alternative is socialist-lite, given the bailout bill they both voted in favor of. I’ve been commenting at other blogs that I think it wasn’t too long ago that McCain would’ve been the perfect Democratic candidate for POTUS.

Thanks! I comment at a lot of Ohio State blogs and at Fanblogs, so I thought it fit. You could say I’m very prepared for handling a crushing defeat this Tuesday.
One more qualification (I’m really good at these apparently). I see now that you meant the “Antichrist” in terms of a metaphor. While I believe he’s a socialist, I’m betting he’ll do about as much damage as Carter did and he’ll be a “one and done” POTUS.
Just so you know I’m not a kook…
Heh – it wasn’t that long ago he was thinking about jumping ship if Jim Jeffords hadn’t done it first.
And no, I didn’t mean Antichrist metaphorically. I’ve gotten several emails “warning me” about it and claiming it was literally true. I debunked it here and actually get a lot of search engine traffic from it.
“Heh – it wasn’t that long ago he was thinking about jumping ship if Jim Jeffords hadn’t done it first.”
Yeah. Another reason to dislike Jumpin’ Jim.
“I’ve gotten several emails “warning me” about it and claiming it was literally true.”
Flabbergasting. I have no words other than that.
While we’re kind of on the topic, I’m not a fan of Huckabee’s either, since he intentionally stuck around way too long. I think Romney was a much more solid candidate than McCain, and I think Mitt would’ve cleaned Obama’s clock on the economy topic. Romney wasn’t my first choice, but he was better than our current option. Former Governor, too.
I had a whole series of posts on Huckabee, none of which adequately expresses my dislike for him. I liked Romney okay, but I was primarily a Fredhead. He’d be leading Senator Teleprompter by double digits, I believe. He could really communicate and connect with people. (“Mental hospital, Michael… might want to think about that.” – ha!) I’m still mad he quit, because he was going to win La. and that would have kept him competitive in the primary. I don’t know who was advising him, but that person should be smacked.
Yeah, I was a Fredhead in the beginning too, but it was clear to me as he went on that he just wasn’t serious about it. Or something else was going on that we don’t know about. I’d really love to find out what he was thinking.
I’ll have to ask my mom if we were separated at birth, LOL!
