I’ve posted the link – repeatedly – about how global warming scare mongering is not a new concept. The first climate change scaremongering was done by the New York Times in 1895. That’s not a typo – over a century ago, the New York Times was hyping catastrophic climate change – global cooling. Nothing happened, so the media let it rest a while, then gradually ramped up to catastrophic climate change via global warming, climaxing in the 50s. Joe Carter from Evangelical Outpost happened across this wonderful video – produced by Frank Capra!
Even now, Man may be unwittingly changing the world’s climate through the waste products of his civilization. Due to our release through factories and automobiles every year of more than six billion tons of carbon dioxide, which helps air absorb heat from the sun, our atmosphere seems to be getting warmer!
Joe links to the IMDB entry for this movie which has more info, and a really hilarious comment by someone with the user name Discern:
First-class technical background is blended with superior animation to create an ideal learning experience for all ages. WARNING – If you let your children watch this film, they will probably want to become meteorologists.
Ah… nothing like a grande cup of irony, extra soy, lots and lots of foam.
C02 emissions, melting polar ice caps, flooding… evidently An Inconvenient Truth was a remake. Not only is Al Gore a creep who is profiting by the sale of carbon offsets he’s trying to guilt us into buying, but he’s not even original.
Santayana: Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

I didn’t realize that the scaremongers had been at it quite that long.
By the way, I’ve given you the thinking blogger’s award. You don’t have to participate if you don’t want, but I did want to let you know that your blog makes me think. About a great many things. Details can be found at this post:

This website leads to a video that reveals the lies behind global warming scam artists.

Sid, yes, I’ve seen the video – it’s excellent. One of the scientists has walked back his position as stated in the movie, but I’ve also read he was under a great deal of pressure to do so, so I’m not sure how that played out. But the video is chock full of good info for our side. Thanks for the link!
Perri, thanks, I’ll be posting on that later today – what a nice compliment!
I’m sorry you are in such a heavy stupor of denial. What conspiracist would want these changes to occur? What profit potential do you see? The only plain profit motive is the US Auto and Oil industry
>What profit potential do you see?
Didn’t you just see the expose on what a scam carbon offsets are? Aren’t you aware of how many billions go into grants over this? Can’t you recognize how this whole scam promotes socialism? This is the FOURTH climate change scare in the last 115 years. Cold, warm, cold, and now warm again. Click through to the first link in this post for details. After this video, which you evidently didn’t watch, things settled down a while and then we had the global cooling scare of the 1970s. No real explanation on why the dreaded warming suddenly stopped without causing all that inland flooding and reversed itself. But I guess there’s progress; the rhetoric has been minimized a little. Before it was 150 feet of flood water, now it’s twenty.
The scare keeps reversing itself, and yet each time the “solution” has been to give government additional power to “fix” the situation and to throw money at academics who have been repeatedly wrong as to the big picture. I’m sorry YOU are in such denial. Twenty years from now, nobody will be talking about global warming – it’ll go right down the memory hole along with the previous three scares, and we’ll probably be in the beginning stage of another cooling scare. People will say, “Oh, but the science is better now, THIS time we’re right!” Eventually people will stop buying this nonsense; it’s already turning around. All of this “the science is settled,” and “the debate is over,” are the last gasps of the warming crowd’s efforts to get their way. If Al Gore *really* thought this was a problem, he’d live like it. Buying plenary indulgences in no way makes up for his conspicuous consumption IF he actually believed that the situation is dire. But he doesn’t, as evidenced by his behavior.
I have nothing against common-sense conservation, and for political reasons I’m all in favor of not being dependent on oil. But the one degree rise in temperature is part of a natural cycle, and humanity will get through it just fine, just as we have in the past.
