I don’t know whether to weep or to laugh. A new service offers to have a computer do our praying for us.
From the FAQ:
Information Age Prayer was founded in 2009 with the aim of helping those who are unable to pray as frequently as they would like. By using the latest technology in text-to-speech synthesizers we are able to provide the service at very affordable rates. Also, 10% of subscription fees are donated to charity.
At Information Age Prayer we think our service should be used like a prayer supplement, to extend and strengthen a subscriber’s connection with God. Traditional prayer is an integral part of this connection and should never be forgone, even after signing up.
I don’t think it’s a spoof.
At any rate, the Pay Pal buttons seem to work. I put a “prayer” in the cart but obviously I’m not going to complete the transaction just to see if it works. I was trying to think of an appropriate bible verse for this post. A few that came to mind – obviously, Matthew 6:7, but then John 11:35, and especially Revelation 22:20b.
Really, at this point I’m just praying this is a joke.
