Ditto. After I took some time to think about it, (and read/hear quotes from various people who said there would be no deal without McCain) it made a lot more sense. Further, as the presumptive heads of their parties (by virtue of their Presidential nominations) both McCain and Obama should be out in front on this one – if not formulating the plan, then negotiating, rallying votes, etc. I’m also relieved that it seems to have given McCain a boost in the polls; further evidence of how wrong I was – a good decision on it’s own AND good strategy.
