I’m purposely avoiding politics because I’m so frustrated and angry about what’s going on. A pox on both their houses. I’m eating something artery clogging for lunch, and before I take the afternoon off to take care of personal business, I’m just fooling around.
RIP Paul Newman – the curtain has closed on a really class act.
Elie Weisel turns 80 tomorrow.
Lay off the Cadbury chocolate this Halloween, or until you get the all-clear – it could have melamine in it.
The content of Africa is splitting?
Farms of the future – in skyscrapers downtown.
Quote of the day is from Jerry Garcia, of the band my grandfather thought was named The Thankful Dead:
Somebody has to do something, and it’s just incredibly pathetic that it has to be us.

Love the Jerry Garcia quote. So fitting.
Hope your afternoon was restful.
I know what you mean about politics.
Funny you should have posted this – I almost didn’t visit today because I really don’t want to fight about politics when it’s pretty clear that both sides are in it for themselves. The only really well grounded reason I can think of to vote Democrat is that they say they want to grow government and will, whereas the Republicans say they don’t but will anyway. That’s hardly a ringing endorsement for either party.
Fortunately I have my own bunch of venal politicians to deal with here, perhaps I need to find your equivalent in the UK
