Good news for a deserving local family -
The new home is for Brad and Laura Usea, whose home was first ravaged by Hurricane Katrina and then damaged further when tornadoes swept through Westwego in February 2007.After Katrina, the Useas took in Brad’s mother, whose home was destroyed, and his two brothers, Chris and Chad.
The February 2007 tornadoes destroyed a trailer that Chris had been living in in Brad and Laura’s backyard. That night, Brad and Chad, both volunteer firefighters, helped rescue of their family and neighbors.
The Useas have continued to live in a cramped, single-family home.
