Future of the Republican Party?

homepagejindalThe talk about Bobby Jindal as “the future of the Republican Party” grates on my nerves.  I posted a few pertinent facts on websites I visit regularly like Hot Air trying to get it through people’s heads:  he is far from perfect.  Although I’ve supported him for years and he’s not a bad guy, he is both less conservative and less competent than most people realize.  People wondered if I’m a moby for tossing the occasional glass of iced water in their faces.  And I’m not.  I like him, I’ve voted for him for years as my Congressman and now as my Governor.  I’ve had the yard signs and worked the phone banks on his behalf.  But I have a realistic view of him, and I truly hate how he is being lionized.  If he’s not called to account for things like stepping up to the public trough then he’ll continue down that road.  If Jindal is truly the future of the Republican Party – as he actually is, and not according to his reputation – then plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose.

He has a lot of potential, and I would support him in a Presidential run in 2016 if, until that time, we can require him to actually live up to the reputation he is cultivating.
