News that New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer may be accused of a rendezvous with a pricey prostitute in a Washington D.C. hotel on the eve of Valentine’s Day has shocked his party’s faithful, who can hardly believe that a Democrat, or a state governor, left the nation’s capital with less money than he had on arrival.

The idea is so preposterous that I believe there’s ample reason to believe the whole thing may be a Rovian setup. Congress should investigate immediately.
