Indeed. I honestly wish these people would make up their minds, already. Seventeen year olds are simultaneously:
- old enough to choose to engage in sex and responsible for the consequences thereof, including taking a human life
- not old enough to choose to enlist in the armed forces
- not old enough to drink
- not old enough to sign contracts, including marriage and even apartment leases
- not old enough to vote
So seventeen year olds aren’t adults, except when the sacred rite of abortion is concerned. If a seventeen year old is mature enough to choose to – in the sterile phraseology of the left – terminate a pregnancy, then why isn’t she old enough to buy a beer?
