I've Got Mail!

From Tom, who evidently put in a fake email address (profanity in the original has been asterisked out):

I’m sorry, but I just had to leave a comment when I saw this website. LOL. Are you kidding me? “Pursuing holiness”? You’re actually serious? Talk about a braindead Protestant jacka**. Get over yourself, you evangelical c**t. Nobody cares about your political opinions. You’re fast becoming a shrinking minority in this country. All you’ve got left is Fox News and talk radio to cry on. You’re going to lose the election, and there’s nothing you can do about it.

So I would suggest having a nice cry in the corner. Remember. Jesus still loves you. Even if the rest of us think you’re a joke.

Tom, you are as lacking in comprehension as you are in courtesy and vocabulary.

There is no gap between “pursuing holiness” and engaging in politics. As an American, I’m subject to certain civic obligations. As a Christian, my civic obligations are part of what I am required to “give to Caesar.” And there’s certainly nothing wrong with writing about those things, since they interest me.

As far as anyone caring about my opinions – frankly I find it rather shocking that so many people read this blog – between 10 and 20 thousand a month. Oh, sure, some are looking for porn, but a lot come here on purpose; they actually type in the address. Go figure.

As to being a minority… and your point is? You can’t take a little dissenting opinion? If your side is so all-powerful, why does it bother people on the left so very much when they are disagreed with? You get downright hysterical and rude.

As to Fox News and talk radio… I don’t have cable TV and I seldom listen to talk radio. But it does grate on your last nerve that alternative information is getting out after the left’s decades long monopoly on news, doesn’t it? And I have to admit I enjoy how much it bothers you. I enjoy it a lot.

As to the election – it’s already lost. As far as I’m concerned, it’s been lost since McCain became the nominee. But you know, if Obama does win – something that is certainly not assured – I don’t think you’re going to like what you get, Tom. (Sadly, McCain shares entirely too many of those leftist ideas. Way to go, GOP, with those open primaries!) But no matter what happens, the country will go on, and this election isn’t going to be the end of anything important – or a “new beginning,” for that matter – even if Obama does win. We survived Carter with his gas lines and misery index, and we’ll certainly survive Obama.

As to whether I’m a joke… perhaps so. But at least I don’t go trolling around leaving useless, obscene comments and fake email addresses on a stranger’s blog. I think it’s pretty amusing that you haven’t got anything else you’d rather be doing. But hey, if I’ve helped you feel better by allowing you to spew a few drops of that seething hate out, then I feel I’ve accomplished something worthwhile here, and I’ll continue blogging. Have a nice night, Tom. I wish you all the best in life, especially a personal relationship with Jesus, who really does love you, whether or not you believe it.

    lol. Two thumbs up.
It never ceases to amaze me how those who preach tolerance to the right are the least tolerant people I know.

You speak optimistically about the future of the country even if Obama wins, but I worry that the Democrats will shut down talk radio if we can’t veto their fascist schemes. If that happens, we might be screwed permanently.
