This quote from a NY Times review of An American Carol said it all, albeit sarcastically:
“An American Carol” wasn’t screened in advance for critics, but why would it be? After all, what good is the traitorous opinion of the cheese-eating news-media elite when it comes to a satire of the radical left?
Exactly. And I’m not being sarcastic. Is anyone expecting a fair review from a serial publisher of classified information? From the “New Duranty Times?”
The movie was about what you’d expect from the maker of Airplane! – which I loved, incidentally. It’s on my DVD shelf near the Mel Brooks flicks. We enjoyed the movie, and the rest of the audience seemed to as well – we were laughing out loud on a regular basis.
This clip from HotAir was interesting – and note the reaction from the reviewer! I wonder if he’s Nathan Lee, the NY Times reviewer I quoted above. Typical liberal elitist nitwit – he conflates hearing opinions with which he disagrees with torture. Because watching a movie you don’t like is exactly like having your fingernails ripped out, limbs removed, being burned with a hot iron, and having your head placed in a vise.
One thing I didn’t like about the movie was the repeated references to “4th of July” which is a pet peeve of mine. The name of the holiday is “Independence Day.” Every nation has a 4th of July. The United States is the only country which celebrates our independence on that day. But that’s a small nit to pick. One other nit – the Annoying Blowhard has a small part. But the movie is well worth tolerating a few moments of O’Blowhard.
All in all – two thumbs up! Go see it!

The liberal reviewer would appear to be The Boston Herald’s Stephen Schaefer.
