MSNBC headline "Big quake question: Is nature out of control?"

The headline “Big quake question: Is nature out of control?” suggests that nature was in someone’s control (and you know they don’t mean God’s) in the first place. It is exceedingly arrogant to think that man “controls” the earth. We live here, and we obviously have the ability to affect our environment. But the ability to cause an effect is not control.

    For no other reason but to play “devils advocate” …

    Maybe we’re just not doing a good job of subduing the earth?
