N.O. resident pleads guilty in Chinese spy case

Heh:

A U.S. citizen from Taiwan and longtime southeast Louisiana resident pleaded guilty today to conspiring to pass American military secrets to the Chinese government.

… Kuo signed a plea deal today in Virginia, agreeing to one count of conspiracy to deliver national defense information to a foreign government, a charge that carries a possible life sentence. He signed a statement saying he cultivated a friendship with a Pentagon weapons analyst, gathered secrets about U.S. weapons sales to Taiwan and other American military interests and passed them along to an unnamed Chinese government official.

… As an avowed capitalist, an American citizen and an immigrant from Taiwan, Kuo often presented himself as anti-communist, according to neighbors and others who knew him from his days as a tennis player at Nichols State University in the 1970s, as the owner of Mr. Tai’s Restaurant in Metairie and as a generous neighbor and family man in Uptown New Orleans.

I guess with the Clintons out of office, they needed to do something to get the info.
