Dr. Leap is saying ‘see you later’ to a dear friend. Not goodbye, though, because he will see him again. We do not grieve as those who have no hope.
Christopher Hitchens is convinced there is no God. Even now, facing the probable end of his life, he’s holding fast to that belief. I don’t see how he bears it. He’s very unusual. Studies show that most people believe in heaven, and most people think they’re going there, even though they have no idea how or why. And that’s the question that really needs answering: on what are your beliefs based?
As for me…I still want this Chris Rice song played at my funeral, because this verse so perfectly expresses my hope and my joy:
And when my final breath You lend
I’ll thank You for the life You gave
But that won’t mean the praises end
‘Cause I won’t be silenced by the grave!
And Your praise goes on
I’ll be runnin’ to Your throne
With every nation, tribe and tongue
To Your arms I’ll fly
I’ll gaze into Your eyes
Then I’ll know as I am known
And Your praise goes on

Not to trivialize this post, but i had to actually check to make sure that Chris Rice wasn’t Anne Rice’s son because, for a second there, I was terribly confused!
My Regards to your friend.
