Procrastination Pays Off Now

It’s nearly 11am, and while I’ve been at the office since 7:30, I’m still in my pajamas. (The joys of having a home office.) In between client support calls and emails, I’ve written a letter and packed up a box for my soldier in Afghanistan, done a load of laundry, and checked the blogosphere to see what’s going on in the world. The news is pretty good.

Oil prices are dropping and should continue to drop because almost four million acres are opening up for drilling in Alaska, and the Drill Now movement continues apace. While I’m not enthused about the energy prices I’m paying – and subsequently every other price – it’s good to know that worldwide and in the US, people are enjoying a better standard of living than ever.

The media-industrial complex (ha!) continues to portray our troops as losers in defiance of the facts, and continues to openly worship the Obamessiah. Well, he’s a Democrat, so it’s evidently obligatory. In spite of the doom and gloom – which is now being transferred to Afghanistan – war is over, if you want it, war is over, now! Well, in Iraq, at least. Should we stay or should we go now? If we go there will be trouble – if we stay it could be double. In any event, our success there allows to to return our attention to “the good war” which the Dems are now abandoning in droves. As usual, they only want the war they can’t have. (Hey, let’s invade Myanmar and bomb Pakistan! Well, Pakistan has to be dealt with somehow but it’s amusing how all the tough talk is reserved for our – at least nominal – allies and the diplomacy for our sworn enemies.)

The Brits finally are granted the right to defend themselves, while in DC the government is struggling mightily to take it away in defiance of SCOTUS. The lower courts are going to end up working out the details. And wasn’t that Gang of 14 compromise capitulation which blocked conservative judges from those lower courts just keen? Thanks John McCain! In the meantime, it behooves us to never forget the benefits of having an armed citizenry – and the dangers of not having one.

Well, break’s over – back on my head!
