Should NSA Whistleblower Be Prosecuted?

dissent_leakingShould NSA Whistleblower Be Prosecuted? Wired.com has a poll.

Opinions are divided on whether Thomas Tamm, the original source for The New York Times 2005 story on the NSA’s warrantless wiretapping, should be prosecuted for revealing classified information. Tamm is a former justice department prosecutor.

I voted “Yes,” of course. He should be prosecuted. Leaking and whistleblowing are two entirely different things, and in spite of the media’s attempt to conflate the two, Tamm is not a whistleblower, he is a leaker.

The whole Bush presidency has been plagued by these leaks. The one that infuriated me the most was when some idiot told the New York Times right after we launched some predator drones into Pakistan. We need to prosecute these people for espionage and then shoot them.
