Recently I declared that I’d “go Galt,” that is, disengage from the economy to the greatest extent possible because my family is part of the 40% who are actually net contributors to the federal government, not the 60% who take out more than they put in. It’s going pretty well so far.
I own a (teeny little) web development company and I have a dedicated server to host my client’s websites. I’m still in the process of moving them off my server and giving those accounts to another company which will take excellent care of them. This process sucks because I’m doing a lot of unpaid work to get them moved. And ironically, new requests – from existing and from potential new clients – are coming in nearly daily now.
We’re cutting back on our personal expenditures. Eating out less, cooking more. Using Pandora instead of Rhapsody. It’s spring and the weather is pretty moderate, so I’m keeping the windows open instead of running the air conditioning even though the house is about five degrees warmer than I’d normally keep it. That sort of thing. No major sacrifices at this point – just a scaling back, and preparations to scale back still further.
This disengagement isn’t just financial. I’m a good deal less interested in politics than usual.
I’ve been blogging less and spending more time on devotions – I still have a sense of… well, something. I’m not feeling particularly apocolyptic, nor do I believe that Obama is the antichrist. But I do have a sense that now is the time to prepare for big things. I couldn’t say what those things are… I just have a feeling that now is the time to buckle down, study, and pray. I have no idea What It All Means. Take it however you like. Anybody else feeling the same?

We, too, have been scaling back and actually feeling good about it. We’ve never been the materialistic types that live for showing our status, etc…..but we’ve discovered that scaling back is a good thing! Jesus Christ had some great words about that way of living….and it’s time we obeyed Him.
Praying more and seeking Him more? Yes, and that feels right also! I wonder if that isn’t what all of this is about anyway. My personal feelings are that the USA is under God’s judgment…and it has been long coming. His judgment is biblically purposed to turn people away from themselves and back to Him. I don’t think that BHO is helping with that!
And then there are the people who voted for BHO. May that evil influence that deluded them be broken through..so they also can come to their right thinking!

I just happened across your blog today and read this: “But I do have a sense that now is the time to prepare for big things. I couldn’t say what those things are… I just have a feeling that now is the time to buckle down, study, and pray.” and had to comment. My wife and I have been feeling this way as well. God is moving in our nation and I have a feeling that people will be really surprised by the major things that will happen.
