The latest Ralph Lauren ad – which they are now trying to suppress after some criticism – is just disgraceful. The model – who had probably already been at the bottom of the BMI scale – was photoshopped to look even thinner – to the point that her head actually looks wider than her waist.
Hey, if Ralph Lauren wants to trash young girls’ self-image by setting unhealthy and literally impossible standards of thinness, it’s a free country. But they’d better be prepared to take their lumps for it. The crappy graphic is just lagniappe.
And just a reminder – Marilyn Monroe wore what in today’s sizes would be a healthy size 8 or 10. You don’t have to be emaciated to be sexy.

Yeah, this ad is pretty idiotic. Girls shouldn’t be this skinny. I personally think overly skinny girls are unattractive. And “overly skinny” includes the majority of models.
I still don’t understand WHO finds that look attractive? Anyone besides the gay males that (over) populate the fashion biz and, thus, are the last people any young girl should be taking advice on looks from.
