After spending the last few days up to my neck in hacking attempts and trying to comprehend the financial crisis, I needed to take a break. My best friend just became a grandmother for the first time. I’ve been looking for some baby gift ideas because her daughter and her husband have pretty much everything. At the baby shower, they got more of everything; really adorable gifts, but lots of the same. The softest blankets, cutest toys, and so on… I wanted a really unique baby gift. And as it turns out, what is unique these days is traditional. When’s the last time you gave someone a piggy bank for their baby?
That’s a unique baby gift, but it surprised me when I thought about it because they used to be quite common. No piggy banks at all at the baby shower. The Little Princess pewter piggy bank is perfect. So if I get that, along with some picture frames for my friend, I’ll be all set.
I had to laugh, because even this little online shopping trip turned out to have financial overtones… check out the little “Result of Merger” outfit, and the Wall Street feeding set. The silver train bank reminded me of a Monopoly piece. There’s no escape! But hey, maybe we can teach the next generation the benefits of saving money.
