John Piper has a new book out about the book of Ruth, and this post lists 7 reasons why we should study it. I went looking for the free e-book to link, but no luck – though there are quite a few other free ones. If you haven’t read Ruth in a while, go through it again – on the surface it’s a short, easy read but it’s very rich, as the list of reasons illustrates.
Added: and thinking of books… CJ Mahaney interviews Ken Sande, the author of a book that meant a great deal to us: The Peacemaker: A Biblical Guide to Resolving Personal Conflict. Our church went through that as a bible study right before Katrina… when pretty much the entire congregation was unexpectedly driven from their homes and ended up staying with relatives for weeks. The concepts and skills taught in that book made a difference during that stressful time.
