The Last Nail In Huckster's Political Coffin?

Oh, please God let it be true: WHOA: Suspected Police Assassin Was Pardoned by Gov. Huckabee in 2000. It’s too late to save those police officers but IF out of this tragic crime the Huckster’s political future can also be killed, that would be at least something good to come out of it. (YES, I despise him that much. I’ve posted various reasons why many times; I want him run out of political life on a rail.)

I agree – he is really bad on fiscal issues and illegal immigration… I wish he would just go away. I would rather see some fresh ideas from Paul Ryan or Bobby Jindal, or some idealism and passion like Michele Bachmann.

Check this out, on CBS he says he won’t run in 2012.

He’s toast–it’s not even worth considering anymore. (And yes, I am quite happy about it.)

How far will one go over the hate of another, such as Laura has for Huckabee. Laura had no problem digging back in history of Huckabee’s action involving Clemmons of crimes committed when he was 17. What Laura should be pissing about is the Justice System that just bailed Clemmons for serious crimes he had just recently been committed. Read this story Laura, maybe it will help your twisted mind. On parole for various felony convictions in Arkansas, Clemmons was briefly jailed in May after allegedly punching a police officer during an incident at his Parkland home. He was again booked into jail in July on a the rape of a 13 yr old girl. Clemmons’ confinement was initially guaranteed by a no-bail warrant issued by the Arkansas Department of Community Corrections after he missed a Pierce County court date. That warrant was later dropped and a new warrant was issued and in effect when Clemmons was bailed , yet Clemmons was released after posting bail on Nov. 23, days before he allegedly gunned down four Lakewood Police officers at a coffee shop series of allegations. Clemmons should never of been given low bail or any bail on the pending charges of assault and rape, so the warrant from an out of State agency should not have been an issue. Didn’t read that Laura? Or read it and just did not think of Clemmons being just realesed on low bail for assault and of a rape of qa 13yr old just days before he killed 4 Police Officers. How convienient a fact you over looked in your hate for Huchabee.

“Hate” is not the correct word unless you’re using it in the postmodern sense of “dislike and disagree.” I do despise him, he craps all over my religion and cynically uses it as a tool to gain power. What you can’t deny is that Huckabee, if he had listened to the outraged screams of Arkansans who TOLD HIM REPEATEDLY to knock off his nasty little habit of overriding the justice system with little or no explanation (because “my pastor buddy told me to” wouldn’t fly as an excuse) then Clemmons would not have been free. Just because there were additional issues further down the line does not erase Huckabee’s egregious offense.

Here are the figures for neighboring states since 1996, when Huckabee took office (and keep in mind the population of these states is nearly 20 times ours):

    ___ >> Louisiana – 213.
    ___ >> Mississippi – 24.
    ___ >> Missouri – 79.
    ___ >> Oklahoma – 178.
    ___ >> Tennessee – 32.
___ >> Texas – 98 (includes 36 inmates released because they were convicted on drug charges with planted evidence).

    Total: 624 vs. Huckabee’s 703.

Governors in neighboring states almost never grant killers clemency, while Huckabee has commuted the sentences of a dozen murderers.

A whole lot more at this post – go, read, be informed.

  7. Wintery Knight says:

One of the reasons I don’t like him is because he’s not a fiscal conservative.

In 1998, two years into his governorship, Huckabee received a B from Cato, which praised him for instituting a large, broad-based tax cut package in the previous year.

However, Huckabee’s Cato grade steadily dropped from there: The group gave him C’s in 2000 and 2002, a D in 2004 and finally, as Thompson states, an F in 2006. In its report last year, the organization declared that Huckabee “went from being one of the best governors in America to one of the worst. … The main reason for the drop was his insistence on raising taxes at almost every turn throughout his final term.” Because of this drop, they gave him a grade of D for his 10-year career as governor.

His tax increases included the state sales tax (more than once) as well as a cigarette and tobacco tax and a tax on nursing home beds.

Cato Institute is a libertarian think tank.
