There’s a very interesting tithing post over at Bible Money Matters -
The Bible and tithing: To give or not to give – Part 1
This first post is pro-tithing. The next takes the opposite perspective, and I’m looking forward to reading it. Our family begins our giving at tithing. I’ve read (and heard) all the pro and con arguments about it, but in my experience, how we spend our money is an excellent indicator of how the rest of our spiritual life is going. Having a specific benchmark has been a great tool for us. When it’s time to actually give the gift, what’s the condition of our hearts? If we’re thankful and rejoicing, it’s a good sign that we’re focusing on eternal goals. If we’re resentful or regretful, we’ve allowed other things to become more important to us than giving to help accomplish the Great Commission.
