This is a PR war, and we are losing. Someday there may be a museum in Iran or Saudi Arabia that acknowledges the contributions of Rep. John Murtha and his Democratic colleagues, along with the vast majority of our media, in establishing the global caliphate. Zwahiri acknowledged that more than half the battle is taking place in the battlefield of the media. Read Cao’s Blog for a refresher on that letter from Zwahiri to Zarqawi.
Politicians are being called to account by the Coalition of the Googlin’. (Also at Michelle Malkin’s.) Start with Clinton, and “move on” to other prominent Democrats’ comments. The reality is that there was either broad agreement on both sides of the aisle, OR that Democrats are craven, cowardly weasels who bend with every public opinion poll and voted against their own best judgement to give POTUS authority – which was itself an abandonment of their duties, it is up to Congress to declare war.
Rep. Jean Schmidt was called to task for quoting Colonel Danny Buph by saying, “Cowards cut and run, Marines never do.” Within minutes she apologized for using that rhetoric, and the Democrat who acknowledged her apology added that Republicans are dishonest and that he is tired of the pathetic smears. It’s becoming increasingly clear that it is about as useful to extend an olive branch to a Democrat as it is to a Jihadist.
We need to get a backbone and win the PR war. There is no alternative if we wish to live in freedom.
