So after the chaos yesterday, I’m really dragging today. And the chaos actually continued until about 10pm. We got a phone call that another family member who has been very ill for a long time is expected to die soon. So add a trip to Massachusetts to the list. I’m not sure how that’s going to work in terms of both time and money, but God is sovereign and I trust it will work out somehow. It always has before. Though that will certainly delay any car shopping. Last night I cooked about the easiest, fastest, cheapest soup evar for dinner: Hamburger soup. Recipe below the fold, unless you’re a foodie – it’s a bit too “instant” for the likes of you – along with all the news I’m wasting my time on instead of working or at least getting ready for my 2pm doctor’s appointment.
What’s in the stimulus package? Porkbusters alumni unite with an Army of Davids to find out. Prepare to be shocked and even amused, especially by the No-Blago clause.
It’s not good enough to treat Gitmo detainees like Supermax-Americans. Now we have to treat them better. I promise you: this isn’t going to end until our soldiers are issued evidence kits and taught to Mirandize “suspects” on the battlefield.
I still pledge not to give these bozos any of my money. But this response is classic.
The Anchoress asks a good question:
And I’m still waiting for an answer to this question: If we’re broke, why are we spending taxpayer money on overseas abortion? Why is this an urgent priority? How does this in any way help or stimulate the US economy?
Gird your loins: Iran will have nukes later this year.
Actually, Jimmah, you’re right: Hamas IS trustworthy. They’ll continue to do exactly what they promise – work to destroy Israel.
Something else taking up a chunk of time (between those pesky client phone calls! Gosh, where do these people get off, wanting to pay me to do work for them!) is a PR attack on two of my clients. One a business client and one, a faith-based client whose parent organization is being attacked. Gotta love those intarwebs… anyone can say anything.
Which is an inherently good thing, being abused by inherently bad people… and the only appropriate response is to pump out the good information to overwhelm the bad.
And here’s the recipe – again, not really for foodies who would rightly despise it, but for us regular Joes who need a fast, easy meal…
Fast and easy hamburger soup:
• A big can or bottle of V8
• About a pound of cooked hamburger
• A big can of cream of mushroom soup
• A cup of frozen peas
• A couple of handfuls of egg noodles
• Seasoning for tomato-y foods – like basil or oregano; whatever you like. Half a packet of Lipton Onion or Beefy Mushroom soup mix is also good.
Stir the V8 into the cream of mushroom soup in a large pot; add a can of water. Mix in the peas and cooked hamburger. When the liquid is slow-boiling, add the egg noodles. When the noodles are done, dig in! It sounds a bit weird, but it’s really quite good, if you like tomato soup. My husband ate three bowls of this last night.
